Worship in Sanctuaries
I have begun construction on a sanctuary in my backyard. I am thinking about dedicating it to a specific Deity, but would it be in keeping with Hellenic tradition to worship other Gods there as well? So for example, if I declared it the Sanctuary of Artemis, would it be appropriate to worship other Greek Gods there besides Artemis? The reason I am thinking about dedicating it to Her is because we live in a beautiful vast countryside with lush forests, hills and wild animals.
Re: Worship in Sanctuaries
It was quite common for more than one god to be worshiped in a sanctuary: in Athens, the Sanctuary of Academus was used for the worship of Prometheus and Hephaistos. There were also shared temples: Zeus and Hera, Zeus and Athena, Athena and Poseidon, Athena and Hephaistos, Hermes and Aphrodite. for example.

Re: Worship in Sanctuaries
Yesterdays' post was about public sanctuaries, but I should have mentioned that all domestic altars and shrines would have to be multi-purpose. A house in Classical Athens didn't have separate altars for Hestia, Zeus Ktesios, Apollon Patroos, Hermes, Hekate, and whomever else they worshiped.
