Literary Heroes Empty Literary Heroes

Post  AgathonZante Thu Jan 05, 2017 12:32 am

Are there any Heroes or Heroines of writing and literature in ancient Greek religion? I know you have people like Sappho and Homer, but they are really more poets, not someone you would think of as being associated with modern literature. In short, I am a writer, and I am looking for someone I can invoke to favor my writings into publication.

Neither would have been considered a 'hero/ine'. However, it would not have been at all unusual to make a votive offering of some sort at their graves or a shrine dedicated to their spirits. I know there was a sort of cult of Sappho on Lesbos, while shrines of Homer are known from various locations.
