Holy Days

Post  AgathonZante on Mon Aug 22, 2016 4:00 pm

Are the holy days each month from the first to the eight at the beginning of each month, or do they start with the new moon? So for example, would the first holy day be on August 1st, or would it be on the first day of the new moon in August and then move on to the 2nd day, 3rd day, etc?

Well, if you're talking about the Men Kata Theon, the new year begins on the first new moon after the Sunner Solstice (this year Hekatombaion began on July 5th). The Noumenia begins on that date and the rest of the day follow suit. The next month begins in the next new moon (Metageitnion began on August 3rd this year) and the days of that month follow suit after the Noumenia. The next month begins on the 4th of September this year.

At least that's if your recreating the Calendar. I like to, at the Hene Kai Nea, lay out the next month. I find it to be a fulfilling spiritual practice that also has a practical purpose.
