Greetings everyone, this question is directed to the Orphics. If I understand this correctly, you follow both the Attic religious calendar and the mystical Orphic Zodiacal calendar?

Hm, we use a modified zodiacal calendar, with each house commencing on the 21st of each Gregorian month, mostly for ease of use. Following the actual commencement dates of each house is the ideal. Our major holy days are the New Year commencing with Libra, the epiphany of Dionysos in Capricorn (always the fourth day of Capricorn), the Theogamia on the full moon of Aquarius, the Anthesteria on the full moon of Pisces. These are the most important holidays I can think of off the top of my head. There are also other holidays like the Thargelia, which is always on the first day of Gemini, and a few others which currently escape me. There is Attic influence, but the rule of thumb is that festivals should always be celebrated on the full moon if possible, the first day of Libra, the 4th day of Capricorn, the first of Gemini being exceptions. So there are also marked differences from the Attic calendar.

I see, so there is actually quite a smaller amount of festivals celebrated when compared to the Attic calendar. The reason I'm asking this question is because the Attic calendar is a lunisolar calendar that begins on the sighting of the first new moon after the summer solstice. This means that if I want to follow the calendar, I would have to reverse the calendar to correspond to dates in the southern hemisphere.

Orphic calendar more or less disregards solstices as year markers and goes by zodiacal houses.

I guess that means we would all celebrate the festivals at the same time
