Was there, or ARE there any practice of communal meals that Hellenes practiced or can practice to connect with the Gods?

By communal meal, do you mean the typical feast meal that people in ancient times would prepare from the animal(s) sacrificed on the altar, or do you mean 'communal meal' in a more 'Eucharistic' way?

I guess generally speaking. Feasts would be an example, yes.

Any time edible offerings are made in a ritual, they're usually consumed by the participants afterward, except for maybe a little portion which is burned. It is a significant symbol of the Eros (love) which flows freely from man to Divinity, and then flows back from Divinity to man and nurtured the soul of man.

Well obviously things like the feast of Panathenaia would be considered a communal meal. But I've seen some people do their daily Hellenic rites, in part, centered around Dionysos being the God of indestructible life, and they'll drink wine and eat some kind of joyful food in a kind of mystic sense to receive His blessings of joy and life. Ever heard of anything like that?

That is not unlike a type of Eucharist which I thought was being held distinguished from what we're talking about. I'm confused.

This is, plain and simple, a Eucharistic meal. It exists almost solely in Mystery religions. Orphism and Christianity are prime examples. In Orphism, red wine is used to represent the blood of Dionysos. Sound familiar? Christians got it from somewhere. By consuming the wine it is symbolically consuming part of Dionysos. In the Neoplatonic sense, red wine is a part of the chain of being of Dionysos, so by sacramentally partaking of wine, one is consuming a substance which contains within it, by virtue of its very existence in Dionysos' chain, a portion of Dionysos' pneuma.

There is not a full on Eucharistic meal of bread and wine in the Orphic tradition that I was taught, but I did compile a reconstruction of one using ancient source material. You would likely have to do the same if you wanted one.

Yea, I suppose my question actually was, Is it unHellenic to have such communal meals? I guess the historical answer is no. But I had no idea that the Orphics drank wine as the blood of Dionysos. That's really interesting, because I used to drink wine in order to receive the blessings of Dionysos as well before you told me about that. This was the first time I ever heard of such a practice outside of my own.
