Understanding Prayer to Gods Empty Understanding Prayer to Gods

Post  EmIsHere Mon May 04, 2015 3:31 pm

Hello! I am very new to this, and I was wondering if I could get answers to a couple of questions I have. I would really appreciate it!

1. If I cannot afford to create an altar or shrine, will it affect my relationship to the gods/goddesses I worship?
2. I pray to both two times a day. Is this enough, or should I pray more?

Thank you in advance Smile

1.) No. The Gods are not petty. What truly matters are the intentions. A permanent shrine/altar is not required to worship the Gods, it's simply ideal. One can make an offering of just a hymn and a prayer in the recesses of their mind and it mean just as much to both the worshipper, and to the Gods, as an elaborate ritual with complex hymns and much sacrifice and libation. These things are nice to have and do, but they are not necessary, and the Gods, full of wisdom and goodness, know this. If you truly cannot, then improvise and do not feel ashamed of having less trinkets than another, because what truly counts is the relationship, not the symbols.

2.) Praying is a complete act of freedom. You can pray to whomever you wish, whenever you wish. We are not in a position to judge such a thing. Do as your conscience leads you concerning prayer.

Also (my apologies for not including this in my original response), this subsection of the forum is for users who have technical issues with the website. Subjects such as this would probably be a better fit in the "General Practice" subsection.
