1. To Jove (iambic)
Almighty Jove, Thou King Alone,
Resourceful, by the Prophet known.
In Heav’n above, enthroned art Thou
On highest ring, enrobed in cloud.
Emit Thy hands the thunder’s clap
And choose us Fortune just, and Lack.
Among all gods, Thou rul’st alone,
With Themis seated at Thy throne.
Preserve th’ initiates, King of Heav’n
The blest, who offer Virtue reverence.
The good transpireth at Thy will,
And godly Truth, Thy limbs fulfill.

2. To Jove
Hail, multiform, Supernal King
Rev’rent and humble, Thee I sing.
Great tempests Thy voice, and the lightning Thy sword,
Antauges, Peras, o’er all art Thou Lord.
For circling Thy will do the heavens revolve
Fulfilling Thy orders from Olympic hall.
Fearsome and merciful, Lord, Thee I call:
Bear witness to worship from telestic hall.
O Peras, I hand to Thee incense and wine
Brought forth to the holocaust fire divine—
Keep ever th’ initiates in safety and health,
Grant Aether’s protection, and all needed wealth.

1. To Juno
Hail, royal Juno on Olympic high,
Thou viewest the orb from thy seat on the sky.
Bedecked in a holy veil, silken and fine
Attended by peacocks in gardens divine.
O Empress of Heaven, fair celestial queen,
Regal and stoic — of radiant mien.
Apeirian power, for Thy favors I pray —
Attend to the hymn, and preserve Thou the day.

2. To Juno
O heavenly dame, thronèd Juno divine,
In cloud-woven stole bedeck’d, vap’rous and fine.
O’er all the earth’s sphere dost Thou gaze with eye stern,
Fate’s justice exacting, regal and firm.
O Goddess attired with pavonine plume,
Thou sponsorest union of maiden and groom.
O lotus-staved regent, queen mother of air
Thy motions enacting the proper and fair.
Necessity’s driver, Thou subtly-benign
Fulfillest reunions of man and divine.
O Juno, I hymn Thee, O paladin great,
To Thee my precation do I consecrate.

1. To Pallas
Hail, Jovian power — hymn Pallas in song!
Defend righteous doings with javelin long.
Glorious, sprung from the Jovian light,
Compelling infernal imprudence to flight.
Glaucopis Minerva, of wisdom eternal,
Dispel hylic corruptions, and stupor infernal.
Thou risest to being of Supernal Sun,
Ensuring Thy Parent’s directive be done.
To hold fearsome aegis, Thou art the one worthy —
Thy Father, King Peras, awarding Thee early.
Virginal, tireless, Pallas, sustaining
Stand ever as Truth, and guard Virtue from waning.

To Apollo
Hail, good Apollo! Divine, Golden One!
Who kindlest the heavenly vault of the Sun.
Take up now Thy lyra of melody great
And by it damnations of mankind abate.
Let Thy divine power shine over the ball
And too, guide the Illness to vanish and fall.
Thy power abounds as the cascade of light
Annulling forever Illusion and Fright.
Divine panacea — the Greatest Pow’r’s Love,
O, fill us with light of Thy heavens above.
To Thee, in return, let us offer a hymn;
Earth’s spawn cleanse, O Phoebus, of sickness and sin.

To Ceres, Mother of Gods
I sing to Antaea, revealer of grain —
Presidest Thou over the seed-planted plain.
The land is Thy kingdom, and so by Thy will
Are with mortal life planted, the valley and hill.
By Thy heavenly nod grow the seen and veiled plains,
So by Thee do men avert both Famines’ pains.
Thou raisest the shoot and the ear to the skies,
Out of grass-bearded fields that delight mortal eye.
I sing to Thee, Rhea — enactress of springs,
Hear — to the planted, divine vigor bring.

To Eubuleus
Rejoice to the King Eubuleus,
sov’reign of nocturnal rite,
who summons the wielders of torches,
to sacraments held by the night.
Hear, Thou who art light of the beacons
we carry ‘n defiance of Fate,
held high to the Gorgon’s sham fires,
her bondage to e’er terminate.
Inspire, O Fire of Æon,
self-fathered, and Sire of All,
Soul’s triumph o’er cyclic delusion,
to th’ harbor of νόστος, her call.

Orphean Psalm
Let me laud the great Prophet, Firstborn's voice on earth
who sublime, lyric songs wrought to free us from birth
in a wheel’s vicious circle that turns evermore,
to send us to paradise o’er western shores.
Hail, O Orpheú — O Leibethran bard
whose salvific melodies spread near and far
opening ears unto consecrate measures
woven throughout with thy lyre’s heavn’ly treasures.
O Prophet, pray sing for me — too, let me hear
thy transformative word, loosing my soul from fear
that the infernal halls of earth impart to me,
and however long Í remain hence, let it be
that my Thought remain tranquil, my Soul undisturbed,
as the way to deliv’rance, from thy song I learn;
‘til at life’s final hour — that of earth, or my own,
with her cell left behind, captive Soul returns home.

All my own work. Those undated are quite old — from before I started date-marking my writing.
All I ask is that my work is respected, not altered, and given credit where due.

"O Best of Gods, blest daimon crown'd with fire . . . hear, and from punishment my soul absolve, the punishment incurr'd by pristine guilt, thro' Lethe's darkness and terrene desire: and if for long-extended years I'm doom'd in these drear realms Heav'n's exile to remain, O grant me soon the necessary means to gain that good which solitude confers on souls emerging from the bitter waves of fraudful Hyle's black, impetuous flood!"
-Iulianic Hymn to Apollon-Helios, ll. 65-106

"Having come for punishment, one must be punished. One must not pull apart the god within oneself."
-Iamblichus, Vita Pythagorica

"Truth would you teach, or save a sinking land,
All hear, none aid you, and few understand."
-Alexander Pope

I don't know why I've never read these before today, but I'm glad I did; these are wonderful, Erodius! Much better than anything I've ever written Laughing
