The Fall of a Syrian Pagan

Post  J_Agathokles on Thu Mar 21, 2013 6:04 pm

This article (http://wildhunt.org/2013/03/the-fall-of-a-syrian-pagan.html) tells the sad story of a Syrian pagan. Her own brother turned against her and betrayed her to rebel militia's, resulting in her torture, rape, and murder. This is the reality for non-Muslims in Syria now. May she be welcomed by the Host of Many and the Queen of Those Below.

It is a terrible thing, what monotheists do to "pagans" in the name of their god...Hermes guide her to Elysium.

The violence IS getting worse in their (un)civil war...but we must also remember the violent fanaticism of moslems in mid-east nations is an every day thing. Those of our faith would be well advised to leave ASAP for their safety.

What happened to that girl is heart-wrenching. There is something terribly, terribly inherently wrong within theologies that foster such hatefulness and destruction. Even if one argues the religions themselves don't directly advocate such things, the fact remains there is something about them that attract and foster rabidness and violence in individuals.

It was a terrible thing to read about. Religious extremists and the wars they cause are like a plague. I feel terrible for thinking it, but I do hope some kind of vengeance falls on the people who did this. I really do.

At the same time, for the sake of everyone in Syria, regardless of which religion they follow, I do hope the madness stops soon.

Did anyone else donate to the Medecins Sans Frontiers from the article? I've spoken to some people on facebook about it and quite of few of them did too.
