Does Anyone Have the Calendar

Post  SpiritofApollo on Mon Jun 24, 2013 2:45 pm

Has anyone uploaded the calender from Tim's old forum. If this is in the wrong place, then you can move it.

Which calendar?

As I recall, the only 'calendar' from the old site was a listing of a variety of dates from the Attic calendar.

There is an online version of the Attic calendar available here.

However, the Attic calendar was, of course, only the civic calendar of Attica. It was also largely superseded by the Roman calendar after about the 100s BCE.

In later Antiquity (from roughly the 200s CE onward), the characteristic calendar of religious sodalities was typically some form of the zodiacal calendar — a form of which is still used by the Orphic adelphotes, and a variant form by some traditional  Hermetic congregations.

Figuring a date in the classical Graeco-Roman world would be something of a nightmare to many people today. One has to deal with different calendar systems in nearly every region (even between different cities), as well as with there often being more than one calendar in simultaneous use in any given place by different people and social groups.

Sorry, I should of been clearer. I was meaning the Attica calender. I know that Tim had a calendar that's in his book, to bad the forum is gone.

Click on the word 'here' in my above post. That is a link to the computer-generated Attic calendar 'HMEPA'.
